Exercise Prescription for
Therapy
Whether you have an injury to a muscle, heart condition or a
joint replacement, exercise and lifestyle modification becomes the primary rehabilitation
method. We prescribe specific movements based on your
current or previous diagnosis together with our own assessment
of your needs. In conjunction with your physician's
recommendations and in some cases physiotherapy we apply our
knowledge of biomechanics, physiology and lifestyle counseling
to improve your condition.
Clients that have sought our services previously experienced
hip and knee replacements, heart arrhythmias, overuse injuries,
ruptured knee ligaments, nerve dysfunction, spinal disorders and
degenerative disc, pregnancy, autoimmune and neurological
problems.
Chronic work related (occupational) problems can often be
aided through exercise therapy and appropriate, simple lifestyle
improvements.
Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) victims are often left needing
exercise therapy for imbalances created during the event.
Some are covered through insurance.
Sport Performance Training
Preparation, maintenance and intensity in sport can be
enhanced with appropriate training.
BODiWORKS works with athletes varying from youth football
players looking for scholarship to adult runners trying to
improve their times. In all aspects of sport performance
training, the following three ideals are paramount:
1. Injury Prevention:
Professionally strengthening the body's joints through strength
and motor skills training. minimizing injury before it
happens helps the athlete perform better, faster and recover
correctly during rest periods. Key issues with muscle
balance, basic motor skills and flexibility are identified in
the assessment and worked with during the initial phase
training.
2. Maximize Performance: This
is the ultimate goal of both the coach and athlete. In
order to efficiently maximize the performance of an athlete we
target all key components to their success:
-
increase strength
-
improve neuro-motor
skills
-
increase flexibility
and tensile strength
-
improve speed and
acceleration
-
develop body power
-
improve self attitude
and committment
-
sport specific skills
-
improve
cardio-respiratory condition
3. Injury Management: This
is an area that needs to be given quick appropriate attention
where the trainer, coach and therapist work together to find a
solution to the athlete's injury or chronic problem.
Overlooked chronic problems, once solved will improve
performance greatly.
